Hookup Culture: Who Really Wins?

Hookup culture. We all know what it is, but who actually enjoys it? A carefree night spent with someone, only to part ways the next day without a second thought. It sounds appealing in theory, but in practice, it’s often messy—and commitment issues are practically a given.

I’m not here to argue that hookup culture is inherently gendered, but let’s be honest—men often use it as an excuse to sleep with women and walk away fuss-free. The real question is: how do you navigate hookup culture without becoming what men expect you to be? And how old is too old for this scene anyway?

These days, 20-year-old men act like 16-year-olds, and 28-year-olds behave like they’re 22. Women, on the other hand, grow up faster—we know this. From stray glances to public catcalls, from the blood of our first periods to the dress code rules etched into school hallways, women learn, adapt, and mature ahead of time. So when you date someone your own age, has he truly evolved enough to match your life experience?

I’m still figuring out the lanes, but I’m over hookup culture being used as a convenient toolkit for men. Don’t be surprised when you meet a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to leave the rest behind.

As I stepped into his car service, without a finger lifted, I felt it: empowered.

PLEASURE. POWER. PEACE OUT.

It’s time we turn the very things that have been used against us—our desires, our bodies, our choices—into our own arsenal.

Own it. Play it. Win on your terms.
